- Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Sociology courses up to 10 hours/week
- Organize and teach all levels of Sociology classes
- Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning;
- Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses;
- Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester;
- Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Required Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS : The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications stated below:
- Master’s in sociology OR
- Bachelor’s in sociology AND
- Master’s in anthropology, any ethnic studies, social work, or psychology
- OR the equivalent(Must apply through YCCD’s Equivalency Application Process).
Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach Sociology to community college students. Physical Demands Range/Step Class I - VII (Based on degree and teaching experience). Salary Range Steps 1: $1,558.22 - Step 10: $2,609.76 per unit. Benefits Information PART - TIME (less than .60 FTE ): Part-time positions less than .60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.
