Job Summary
Performs professional and administrative work relating to the coordination of the City of Orlando's Community Rating System (CRS) activities and works with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Insurance Services Office, Inc. to document and verify the City's involvement in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and Community Rating System. Ensures that the City meets these responsibilities in order to maintain and improve the City of Orlando's classification and flood insurance discount in the program. Works with development review staff and other City staff in developing standard operating procedures as they relate to floodplain development and management. Assists with the review of permits within the floodplain. This position reports to the Floodplain Manager and works in an independent manner, without close supervision, and is expected to make independent decisions and judgments on Floodplain Management and CRS issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Public Administration, plus four (4) years experience in professional civil engineering, flood management coordination, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that is closely related to the position. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Floodplain Manager certification required within six (6) months of employment.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
