Summary
Essential Job Functions- Provides excellent customer service when dealing with customers and employees. This process is often handled over the telephone and other electronic means of communications.
- Understands local and state geography to help determine response times for transports.
- Utilizes information received from the caller to determine priority and nature of call, assign and dispatch appropriate vehicle
- Data entry of information into industry specific software
- Transmits call information to personnel
- Ensures calls are prioritized in accordance with company Standard Operating Guidelines
- Posts unassigned vehicles to predetermined posting locations to ensure minimum response times, moves resources for coverage as needed.
- Must be able to physically report to work in a timely manner on a regular basis
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures
Knowledge:
- Medical terminology (plus)
- Familiarity with local geographical region (Southwest Florida)
- Use of computers
- answering of telephones
- fax machine, CAD, telephone, and radio
- use of internet to access web based applications
- mapping applications
- vehicle tracking software
- employee crew scheduling
- able to type minimum of 30 wpm
- able to work independently with little supervision
- speak clearly and fluently
- function in a team oriented environment with other communication personnel, health care facilities and road crew employees
- foster and maintain a positive and cooperative working environment - this includes training of new hires as well as answering questions/providing feedback to co-workers to better enable them to efficiently and correctly complete their assigned work
- work odd hours for extended periods of time, including overnights and weekends
- ability to work under stress for periods of time to accomplish work needs
- Remains polite and patient while collaborating with facilities calling in for transports
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience - work in a Computer Aided Dispatch environment
- Emergency Medical Dispatch training
