We are looking for a driven marine professional who is eager to expand their expertise in technical marine investigations. The successful candidate will bring advanced technical knowledge, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative spirit, ideally with experience in a design office, shipyard, or marine regulatory environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform on-site, hands‑on inspections of vessels and componentsProvide technical and scientific support to clients involved in litigationPrepare detailed, objective expert reports that clearly document findings and withstand rigorous scrutinyDeliver testimony in depositions and trials as neededActively participate in business development, including marine insurance and admiralty law eventsRequired Experience, Education, And Certifications4 to 8 years of progressive professional experienceBachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a closely related fieldExposure or experience with marine insurance disputes preferred but not requiredCore CompetenciesTechnical accuracy and attention to detailStrong problem‑solving and critical thinking abilitiesProject management and organizational skillsEffective collaboration within multidisciplinary teamsAbility to thrive in fast‑paced, deadline‑driven settingsProficiency in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusionsStrong interpersonal and client communication skillsFamiliarity with Microsoft Office and engineering/design softwareAbility to analyze and interpret scientific and technical reports, journals, financial documents, and legal materialsComposure under pressure, including during depositions and cross‑examinationsExtensive experience in the use and application of U.S. and international maritime regulations and standardsExperience with various vessel types including recreational vessels, yachts, sea‑going commercial cargo ships, and cruise shipsExperience with various vessel construction materials (Composite, Aluminum, and Steel)Physical & Work Environment RequirementsValid driver's license and reliable transportationWillingness to work in shipyards, waterfront, or offshore environments as neededAbility to climb ladders, board vessels, and navigate confined spaces safelyOccasional travel for inspections, shipyard visits, or sea trialsAt Rimkus, we value a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and respected.
