Dispatcher
The Dispatcher is responsible for the real-time tracking, coordination, and oversight of in-house delivery drivers. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely and efficient delivery and pick-up operations, maintaining communication with stakeholders, and managing resources efficiently to uphold the highest standards of customer service.
Essential Job Functions:
- Real-time Tracking: Use Descartes OnDemand system to monitor the location and performance of delivery drivers in real-time.
- Exception Management: Promptly address logged Exceptions and Deviations, verifying details with Drivers as exceptions are noted.
- Post-Route Checks: Validate the presence of exception-logged materials, rejected materials, RMA returned items, and picked-up PO materials as Drivers complete their routes.
- Delivery Oversight: Ensure timely deliveries and pick-ups in line with management goals and expectations.
- Route Management: Efficiently assign pick-up stops, aiming to optimize resources, reduce overtime, and boost performance.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide timely updates to internal and external parties regarding delivery ETAs and sequences.
- Software Management: Ensure drivers correctly utilize company-issued software, including Descartes MobileLink and UKG timecard.
- Perform other duties assigned.
- Work mandatory overtime as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years in a warehouse environment OR 2 years in a delivery vehicle dispatching operations environment
- Experience coordinating across multiple branches
- Background in the Construction or Electrical Supplies industry preferred
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English
- Basic math skills
- Ability to lead and coordinate teams
- Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Effective time management and task prioritization skills
- Attention to detail and organizational aptitude
- Exhibits a strong sense of urgency, with proactive communication skills and a focus on action oriented solutions
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently, adept at quick thinking and providing timely responses to unforeseen situations that may arise during a Driver's route
