Fire Academy Technician
Prepares equipment, supplies and materials for Fire Academy laboratory and assists instructor in fire fighting procedures and off site demonstrations.
Examples of Duties
Prepares and maintains necessary supplies and equipment for laboratory sessions. Assists instructors with preparation for lectures. Assists instructors in assessment and testing student skills. Assists instructors in the development of activity planning. Maintains records of inventory and lab supplies. Assists instructors in scoring and recording student tests.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of fire fighting procedures, training apparatus and equipment uses, and record keeping principles and practices. Ability to demonstrate the proper utilization of equipment and materials, understand and carry out instructions, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff. General qualifications: Two years experience as a Fire Academy technician in the field or in a school. Possession of a Fire Fighter Training Certification issued by the California State Fire Marshal's Office.
