    ABOUT THIS POSITION:

    We are pursuing qualified candidates to fill Administrative Aid positions within the Department of Public Health. We are looking for someone, who under close supervision, performs beginning level administrative staff work by participating in making investigations of operating problems in a County department.

    Essential Job Functions

    WHAT WILL I DO AS AN ADMINISTRATIVE AID?
    • Collects and assists in analyzing and interpreting data relative to the work of the department.
    • Assists in conducting studies to resolve objectively, the efficiency, economy and effectiveness of departmental operations, policies and procedures.
    • Assists in analyzing problems of a department.
    • Assists in budget preparation.
    • Prepares or assists in gathering information and preparing a broad range of reports, manuals and correspondence.
    • Compiles periodic and special reports.
    • Carries out special projects as assigned.


    Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
    A Bachelor's degree* from an accredited college or university.

    PHYSICAL CLASS:
    Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
    *To receive credit for your education, include a legible copy of your official diploma, official transcript, or letter/certificate from an accredited institution at the time of filing or within fifteen (15) calendar days of filing your application. The document should show the date the degree was conferred and be in English.     DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
    Credit will be given to applicants who possess the following desirable qualifications:
    • Experience in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Access, or PowerPoint in school or work projects or assignments.
    • Experience collecting and assisting in analyzing and interpreting data school or work projects or assignments.
    • Experience preparing or assisting in gathering and preparing information for various reports correspondence or presentations.

    EXAMINATION CONTENT:

    This assessment type will evaluate the education and experience you list on a questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system.

    This part of the assessment is worth 100% of your total score and assesses: Minimum Requirements and Desirable Qualifications.

    Applicants must receive a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment to be added to the register.

    Passing this examination and being added on the Eligible Register does not guarantee an offer of employment.

    ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION and VACANCY INFORMATION:

    Candidates who passed the assessment are placed on the Eligible Register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. We will use this Eligible Register to fill vacancies in the Department of Public Health as they occur.

    NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.

    AVAILABLE SHIFT:
    Any, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
