    Major Duties

    Under general supervision, the Painter prepares surfaces, removes debris, tapes areas, and paints walls, doors, gates, and assigned surfaces. Protects furnishings and finishes spaces by cleaning work areas, maintaining safe conditions, driving vehicles for tasks, and coordinating with other trades while completing additional assigned duties.
    • Prepares walls and surfaces for painting
    • Removes all debris from walls (tape, nails, staples, pictures, etc.)
    • Tapes walls during paint preparation
    • Responsible for painting walls, doors, gates and other assigned surfaces
    • Moves and protects furnishings. Protects carpeting and appliances
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications
    • Any combination of progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard painter’s apprenticeship program.
    • Experience with installing drywall, tape n mudd, matching texture and paint, applying and patching the acoustic ceiling, preparing and matching the texture of the stucco coating, paint stencil work, and basic computer skills
    • A valid California Driver’s license is preferred.


    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Comprehensive knowledge of painting techniques and methods, including surface preparation, application of paints and finishes, and usage of various application tools such as brushes, rollers, spray, and electrostatic spray equipment.
    • Skilled in mixing, matching, and applying paints and finishes to diverse interior and exterior surfaces.
    • Ability to effectively prepare surfaces by removing debris, applying masking tape, and ensuring protective measures for furnishings and flooring.
    • Demonstrated ability to safely operate equipment and maintain tools used in painting, sandblasting, and water blasting activities.
    • Knowledge of safety practices and regulations, including compliance with Cal OSHA standards.


    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
    • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
    • Classification: 6526 / Painter / Grade 1
    • The anticipated HIRING RATE is $ 5355 - $ 6400 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $ 5355 - $ 7801 per month.
    • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
    • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
