    Major Duties

    Under general supervision, the Accounting Technician performs accounting and procurement functions, including transaction processing, reconciliations, and financial record maintenance. Supports audits, ensures compliance with policies and donor requirements, and provides guidance on financial procedures while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting operational efficiency.
    • Processes and reconciles Purchase Orders (POs) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Reviews and processes purchase requisitions, chargebacks, and other related expenditures.
    • Verifies donor restrictions and availability of funds prior to processing expenditures.
    • Prepares journal entries for the general ledger and maintains accruals, encumbrances, and accounts payable schedules.
    • Assists with preparation and documentation for the annual financial audit.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    • Equivalent to three years of full-time, progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience that has provided the knowledge and abilities listed OR any equivalent combination of college education in a job related field and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.


    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Working knowledge of accounts payable, procurement, and general accounting practices, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial recordkeeping.
    • Ability to interpret and apply policies, donor restrictions, and regulatory requirements.
    • Demonstrated skill in reviewing financial transactions for accuracy and compliance.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills with a customer service orientation.
    • Proficiency in financial systems and standard office software, with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and support audit processes.


    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
    • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
    • Classification: 1741/ Accounting Technician II / Grade 1
    • The anticipated HIRING RATE is $ 4037 - $ 4457 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $ 4037 - $ 5881 per month.
    • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
    • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
    • The position is currently hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
