    The Department of Behavioral Health Services is seeking a dynamic Mental Health Specialist who is ready to make a difference in our community.

    What's this Job All About?
    This is an entry-level clinical position within Colusa County’s Department of Behavioral Health. Under clinical supervision, this position is responsible for providing rehabilitation services to individuals who have a mental health and/or substance use disorder (SUD). Services can include individual rehab, group rehab, case management, and crisis intervention. This position will assist in gathering biopsychosocial information when clients intake into services and will be a support in identifying a client’s presenting problems and functional impairments. However, this position does not include the ability to independently diagnose or provide psychotherapeutic treatment. If the selected applicant is enrolled in a SUD program working towards their counselor certification, or is already certified, then SUD counseling services can also be provided.


    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
    Entry-level clinical position focused on rehabilitative services. Incumbents will work as members of a treatment team providing rehabilitative services to individuals identified as being in need of those services by the treatment team.

    Supervision & Examples of Duties

    Under the direction of the Director of Behavioral Health or designee, the Mental Health Specialist receives technical and functional supervision from the Clinical Program Manager and general supervision from the Clinical Supervisor.

    Qualifications

    Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

    Experience:
    Two years of experience in a community behavioral health setting.

    Training:
    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social welfare, social work, or a related field.

    License or Certificate:
    Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid California Driver’s License.

    Supplemental Information

    The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
