POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATIONThe City of Westminster is seeking a compassionate and engaging Library Supervisor - Circulation who loves delivering exceptional customer service to all ages!
The primary responsibility and focus of this role is the circulation desk. This position is responsible for staff scheduling, supply ordering, training of new staff, and supervision of clerks and shelvers. This position will provide excellent customer service, handling and overseeing the opening of accounts, placing holds, handling fines, processing lost materials, and problem-solving patron accounts. The Library Supervisor - Circulation will also regularly work at all public desks including the information desk and youth services desk.
The Library Supervisor position is responsible for supervisory, administrative, and professional work reporting to the Library Services Coordinator. They are responsible for circulation services at Irving Street Library, including the circulation staff and shelving activities. This position requires working some evenings and weekends.

The Irving Street branch is a neighborhood library at the heart of Historic Westminster. It is a small and busy location in a densely populated area with a diverse population, including Hispanic, Hmong, and Native American representation with a wide range of socioeconomic and generational backgrounds. The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate. The City of Westminster has a Multilingual Stipend Program to encourage, and reward benefited employees who are conversationally fluent in languages other than English. Benefited employees have the opportunity to test their language proficiency skills and qualify for a bi-weekly stipend that will vary based on the employee’s level of proficiency and usage.

- Positive interaction with patrons, maintaining fair and equitable circulation policies, and training staff in customer service techniques
- Display and circulation of library materials through attractive, orderly, and easy to find arrangement and display of assorted media
- Responding to and resolving customer issues that may include disputed fines, overdue, lost, or damaged items, problems with loan requests, and/or library policy interpretation
Plans, directs, and monitors the circulation activities of the Irving Street Library including customer service, shelving, and staff supervision, including:
- Oversees all hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Provides procedural guidance and training for staff

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications Required :- Graduation from an accredited four (4)-year college or university

Preferred :- Spanish language skills and/or experience in working with patrons from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds desired

- Frequent crouching, squatting, bending, and twisting to shelve books from floor level to above head; frequent climbing and balancing to use step stools, ladders, and climb stairs
- Constant light grasp to prepare returned and new material/books for checkout and patron use, and constant reaching at waist level to return material to proper shelves
- Frequent firm grasp, pinching/fine motor skills to prepare material/books, and reaching overhead to stock books
- Constant near acuity to read computer screens, and book and shelving labels
- Frequent hearing to communicate with public, staff, and vendors
- Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds from ground to waist to move returned books to check-in area; frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds from ground to overhead to return books to stacks and stock supplies and materials; occasional carrying of up to 40 pounds 200 feet to move books and material; occasional pushing and/or pulling of up to 150 pounds up to 200 feet with cart throughout multilevel public use library
WORKING CONDITIONSWork is constantly performed indoors in a public library setting. This position involves high public contact and mobility through a multilevel public use facility.
Required Materials and Equipment Frequent use of telephones, personal computers and databases (including on-line searching), keyboards and computer mouse, telephones, fax machines, photocopiers, microform equipment, scanners, bar code readers, book security system equipment, and various electronic and audio-visual equipment. Regular use of personal transportation to the library's various facilities and other locations in the provision of regular library services and programs.

The City of Westminster does not participate in the Social Security system. In lieu of Social Security contributions, the city contributes to a 401(a) defined contribution plan on your behalf.
401(a) Contribution Rates:Employee Mandatory Contribution: 11.5% of your base pay. Contributions are pre-tax and fully vested.
Employer Contribution: 12% of your base pay.
