    Full-time position available with the Aviation Department, Field Maintenance Division, located at 154 Tokyo St.
    Salary Starting at: $7,268/month
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00a.m.-3:30p.m. (Mandatory Overtime during inclement weather and emergencies)

    Responsibilities

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Promotes and cultivates the Aviation Department Culture as a member of the Aviation Department Leadership Team.
    • Leads the division to include hiring, scheduling, training, evaluations, discipline, and labor relations.
    • Prepares and manages a multi-million-dollar budget to include contracts, procurement, supplies and equipment.
    • Sets divisional goals and objectives for staff professional development, Key Performance Indicators, and 139 Certification.
    • Supervises direct reports providing feedback, training, and counseling to ensure City policies, regulations, directives, and procedures are applied fairly, consistently, and equitably.
    • Ensures Divisional leadership manages unionized workforce in accordance with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 500 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    • Utilizes knowledge of FAA rules, regulations, procedures and advisories governing airport operations and security, including FAR Part 139, Part 77, Part 150, and 49 CFR Parts 1540-1550 and the FAA 150 series Advisory Circulars.
    • Manages the staff responsible for the grounds at Kansas City International Airport on both air side and land side, including turf maintenance; concrete and asphalt pavement on the airfield, streets, and curb and gutter; runway, taxiway and street lighting; commercial power distribution equipment; pavement markings; informational and regulatory signage; landscaping; and storm drainage.
    • Manages the staff responsible for maintaining, repairing, and programing video security cameras, access control hardware and software, airport security gates, audio messaging equipment, and radio communication equipment.
    • Coordinates with the Planning & Engineering Division on construction projects and improvements. Reviews construction plans and inspects contractor work to ensure results are acceptable and sustainable from a maintenance aspect.
    • Assists the Executive Manager of Airport Operations and Field Maintenance in developing and maintaining a Capital Improvement Plan, to include facility and equipment resources
    • Prepares for and supervises snow and ice control efforts, including mechanical removal of contaminants and application of ice control materials in support of the MCI Snow and Ice Control Plan.
    • Responsible for specific duties set forth in the MCI Airport Certification Manual, MCI Airport Emergency Plan, and MCI Wildlife Hazard Mitigation Plan
    • Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure divisional customer relations are maintained.
    • Maintains workplace, employee, and maintenance records.
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • In conjunction with the Airport Operations division, Field Maintenance Division is responsible for all airfield snow removal operations during emergency weather events.


    Important Information:

    • Must pass 10-year TSA Background Check.
    • Must be available 24/7 for emergencies and inclement weather events.
    • Must successfully obtain and maintain an MCI Issued AOA Movement Area Badge with driving privileges.
    • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English via 2-way radio.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License within 6 months.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES an accredited bachelor's degree and 5 years of managing a division, section or program within airport operations, airport regulatory compliance, or oversight of building and/or construction operations at an airport; OR high school graduation and 9 years of managing a division, section or program within airport operations, airport regulatory compliance, or oversight of building and/or construction operations at an airport. Must successfully complete a TSA criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screen.
