    Description

    Under general supervision, performs analytical and technical staff work in assigned areas of specialized assistance and service as required by a division or department head.
    The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current and/or additional vacancies throughout the City. The present opening is within the Community Development Agency.

    Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To

    Performs analytical work by gathering, compiling, analyzing and evaluating data; conducts surveys, research and studies related to improving operational and administrative processes and operations; writes or assists in the preparation of comprehensive reports, including detailed findings and recommendations; assists in the development and implementation of new programs, procedures, methods and systems; prepares informational material for special or regular reports; confers with and assists individuals requesting information, services or making complaints; prepares written correspondence; review, analyze and report on basic agreements, correspondence, and pending legislation of relevance to the City; may assist in budget preparation and control, provide cash flow analysis; performs related functions as required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    One year of governmental administrative staff experience, and education equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with specialization in public, business administration, finance, economics or closely related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge and abilities:
    DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Knowledge of: the principles and practices of public or business administration; research techniques, data analysis, report preparation and writing, as well as program evaluation; use of modern computer applications and devices.
    • Skill in: ability to operate modern devices including smart phones, tablets, laptops, personal computers and utilizes standard business software applications such as Excel, Access, Word, Power Point, and related software.
    • Ability to: compile, analyze and interpret financial data, demographic and other types of data, manage basic agreements and programs, prepare clear and concise comprehensive reports; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and the public.

    Applications will be reviewed by the Human Resources Department. Those applicants possessing the most pertinent qualifications will be invited to continue in the selection process, which will include:

    Written Examination (Qualifying) tentatively scheduled for April 6, 2026 : Will evaluate candidates' knowledge of principles and methods of public administration, public relations, data analysis, reading comprehension, business arithmetic, and other factors which are essential for successful performance on the job. Candidates need a minimum passing score in order to continue in the selection process.

    Writing Skills Examination (Qualifying) tentatively scheduled for April 6, 2026: Will evaluate the candidates' ability to effectively communicate in writing. Candidates must receive a minimum passing score in order to continue in the selection process.

    Oral Interview Examination (Weight of 100%) tentatively scheduled for April 28, 2026: Will evaluate the candidates' experience, training, education and abilities in relation to those factors which are essential for successful performance on the job. Candidates need a minimum passing score in order to be placed on the eligible list.

    Candidates need a minimum passing score in order to be placed on the eligible list. Candidates must achieve a passing score in every component of the selection process in order to be placed on the eligible list. The Human Resources Department may waive one or more examination components. When one weighted examination component is waived, the remaining section will receive a weight of 100%.
