Position Summary The
Football Operations Specialist plays a key behind-the-scenes role in supporting the operational success of SDSU Football. Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director and Football Chief of Staff, this position provides administrative, logistical, and analytical support to ensure the smooth coordination of football program operations. From managing team travel arrangements and contracts to serving as a liaison with campus partners, the role contributes directly to the efficiency and professionalism of a Division I football program. Key Responsibilities - Coordinate football team travel logistics, including airline, hotel, and ground transportation arrangements and contract processing.
- Serve as a business operations liaison between the football program and campus departments.
- Support administrative, financial, and operational processes to ensure compliance with university and NCAA policies.
- Assist with event coordination and operational planning related to football activities.
- Represent the football office with professionalism while maintaining strong working relationships across campus and the community.

Position Information - This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027, with the possibility of reappointment.
- This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. Ability to work some evenings, weekends and travel.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University. Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately 450 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following: The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.

Education and Experience Positions classified within the Athletics Administration Professional series are directly responsible for providing athletics program operational oversight and administration. Positions require knowledge of National, NCAA, and Conference rules and regulations, as well as best practices, principles, and procedures within athletics administration. Incumbent is entry-level professional who applies basic professional concepts to resolve problems of limited technical scope and complexity. Normally operates under detailed instructions with close supervision.
Analytical and professional work is reviewed for understanding of professional concepts as well as compliance with policies and procedures. Routinely interacts with student-athletes, faculty, coaches, and other athletics staff to resolve less complex problems where answers can be deduced from data and information. These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Key Qualifications - Must represent the football office with a professional attitude and appearance.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees and other campus staff, faculty, boosters, student-athletes, and community members.
- Must be able to share the same message and vision of the head football coach.
- Knowledge of Mountain West Conference and NCAA recruiting practices and regulations.
- Division I football operations experience; preferred 2 years or more.
- A Masters degree is preferred.
- Customer service and public relations experience, including event coordination.
- Experience working with collegiate and/or professional football teams, familiarity with Teamworks Suite software, and ability to quickly learn new office support technology systems.
Licenses and/or Certifications Required - Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

Compensation:
Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department’s budget and equity guidelines.
- Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,908).
- Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,908-$7,150 per month (Step 1 - Step 20).
- Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
