Overview The Construction Inspector II - Streets Division plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of road and streets under the jurisdiction of Engineering Services. The role involves meticulous inspection of construction activities to guarantee adherence to approved plans and specifications. The Construction Inspector II - Streets Division primarily oversees medium to large-scale projects encompassing streets, utilities, bridges, sidewalks, and subdivisions.
Responsibilities • Ensure adherence to design drawings, specifications, and relevant regulations during construction activities
• Verify that materials and workmanship meet project requirements and comply with specified standards
• Oversee compliance with traffic control standards to ensure public safety
• Enforce the City's "Storm Waste Water Pollution Prevention Plan" (SWPPP) to manager environmental impact
• Conduct quality control testing at appropriate intervals and initiate corrective actions as needed
• Assist in resolving construction problems and disputes
• Develop and maintain daily construction and inspection logs for comprehensive documentation
• Process contracts pay for applications and submittals, including responses to Request for Information (RFI) requests
• Determine the necessity of changing work orders and facilitate communication between project teams
• Facilitate project progress meetings and ensure the project team has the necessary information for negotiating change orders
• Maintain clear communication among project team members, businesses, property owners, and city/franchise utilities
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work • Exempt - Full-Time
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Qualifications • High School Diploma/GED
• Five (5) Years of Experience
Licenses and Certifications Required • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
