    The Mohave County Finance Department is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer to lead with vision, integrity, and innovation.

    Salary Range: $50.79 - $81.52/hour D.O.Q.

    Essential Job Functions

    This position plays a critical leadership role in supporting and advancing the County’s financial operations by overseeing all core finance functions, including budgeting, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, financial reporting, and auditing. The role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the County’s financial records in accordance with applicable accounting and auditing standards. Responsibilities include leading the development and administration of the annual budget, monitoring general ledger activity; and overseeing financial system operations and ERP compliance. This position also provides strategic guidance to departments on financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including IRS and retirement system compliance, while ensuring proper internal controls are maintained across all financial activities. In addition, the role supervises and develops staff, oversees payroll operations, manages required tax reporting functions, and delivers training and financial reporting to promote consistency, accountability, and informed decision-making across the organization. The incumbent represents the department in both internal and public settings.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business/Public Administration, or related field.
    • Experience in governmental finance or accounting, including leadership experience.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Master’s degree, CPA/CGFM, and/or county government experience.


    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Expertise in governmental budgeting and financial management, including budget development, accounting, treasury, revenue administration, and financial reporting. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing public finance, including county provisions and bonded indebtedness. Demonstrated ability to lead comprehensive financial services programs; design and implement effective financial policies, systems, and internal controls; and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
    • Proven skill in analyzing complex financial data and delivering clear, accurate reports to support executive and policy decisions. Experience with performance-based and capital budgeting, long-range financial planning, and organizational performance measurement. Proficient in financial technologies and data systems.
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage staff and programs within budget and policy constraints. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
