This position works directly with the City Manager and other members of the executive leadership team on high-priority initiatives, special projects, research, policy development, and cross-organizational collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Leads and supports special projects on behalf of the City Manager; conducts research, analysis, and benchmarking on policy, operational, and community issues; develops briefing materials, reports, presentations, and recommendations for executive and City Council consideration; translates complex information into concise and actionable insights.
- Identifies opportunities for innovation, service improvement, and operational efficiency; supports implementation of organizational initiatives and strategic priorities, including the goals and vision of the 2040 Strategic Plan; assists in developing new ideas, pilot programs, and cross departmental solutions; monitors emerging trends in local government and public administration.
- Attends meetings on behalf of the City Manager when appropriate; effectively assesses the climate, flow, and dynamics within meetings to adjust accordingly to the needs and what will lead to successful outcomes; provides clear, timely summaries and strategic insights following meetings; builds relationships across departments, regional partners, community organizations, and stakeholders; coordinates the logistics and agenda to support effective executive team and other meeting needs.
- Serves as a connector across the organization; fosters collaboration and trust within and between departments; supports a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Assists with executive communications and preparation for public meetings; support coordination of key initiatives across departments; maintains confidentiality and discretion in all matters.
QualificationsExperience:A minimum of two years of professional level experience, preferably in local government, is required. Experience with policy development, budgeting, and/or strategic planning is preferred, along with experience supporting executive leadership.
Education:A Master's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business, or related field is required.
