The Job
Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is recruiting for Hospital Plant Operators who monitor, operate, and maintain computerized safety control systems for back-up generators, high pressure steam boilers, chillers, air conditioners, medical gas, and vacuum and fire alarm systems. In addition, Hospital Plant Operators evaluate operating systems, make adjustments, troubleshoot repair activities and assign work to other maintenance division staff.
The medical center has a Nonstructural Performance Category (NPC) rating of 5 and is designed to remain self-sufficient for a minimum of three days after an 8.3 magnitude earthquake. A Structural Performance Category (SPC) 5 rated acute care hospital, ARMC is in compliance with structural provisions of the Alquist Hospital Facilities Seismic Safety Act, capable of providing services to the public following strong ground motion.

Located on a beautiful 70-acre campus in Colton, California (50 miles east of Los Angeles), Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state-of-the-art, public/nonprofit, 456-bed, university affiliated teaching hospital licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital houses a regional burn center serving four counties (San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono and Inyo), a comprehensive stroke center, level I trauma center and a freestanding in-patient behavioral health center. Additionally, ARMC operates five community-based, primary care clinics and over 40 specialty care outpatient services. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation, physical and verification of employment history and education.
Physical Requirements: This position requires frequent walking and standing; continuous lifting of items weighing 10 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds; working in small or limited spaces; exposure to electricity, chemicals, infectious areas, atmospheric pressure, fire, heat, oil and odors. Use of specialized protective equipment or clothing is required.
Shift Availability: Incumbents are required to work various shifts as assigned, which may include weekends and holidays.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Minimum Requirements
Experience: Three (3) years of journey-level experience operating and maintaining boilers, chillers, and other auxiliary equipment.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates possessing supervisory and/or lead worker experience as well a Boiler/Steam Engineer license are highly desired.
