  • Job Description

    Overview

    The Administrative Support Ill primary function is to investigate misdemeanor Family Code Violations reported to the Corpus Christi Police Department and file such criminal cases with the Nueces County District Attorney's Office. The unofficial title is "Civilian Investigator" for the Family Violence Bureau. The position manages approximately 100 cases per month.

    Responsibilities

    • Investigate assigned cases by interviewing victims and witnesses, obtain reports/videos/photographs/all other supporting documents of evidentiary value

    • Prepare supplemental reports to document findings of the investigation, case files, and manage caseload

    • Coordinate and network with the Nueces County District Attorney's Office in preparing and participating in the prosecution of criminal cases

    • Coordinate and network with other area law enforcement officials on related cases or suspects

    • Answer phone calls from citizens or other criminal justice entities about their cases

    • Assist in receptionist duties, as needed. Miscellaneous clerical duties, as needed

    • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

    Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

    • Non-Exempt - Full-Time

    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

    • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

    Qualifications

    • Associate's Degree (AA/AS); or two-year Technical certificate

    • Two (2) years of experience

    Licenses and Certifications

    Required

    • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

    Employment Testing

    Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:

    • Police Background Check: Yes

    • Motor Vehicle Record Check: Yes

    • Drug Screening: Yes

    • Physical Exam: Yes

    Basis of Rating

    A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
