Emergency Hire - Student Services Professional - CLA Advising

Job Summary

• Provide consistent, accurate, sensitive, and equitable academic advising services to current and prospective students in an inclusive and culturally competent manner, with a focus on preparing students for semester conversion.
• Advise students in a holistic manner on all issues related to semester conversion that affect retention and progress towards degree, such as curriculum sequences, course substitutions, articulation agreements, and anticipated changes in university academic policies.
• Connect students to appropriate campus support resources such as basic needs, career services, campus health & wellbeing services and various student academic services.
• Assist students changing majors, adding minors, or exploring high-impact educational opportunities such as internships, undergraduate research, and study abroad
• Advise students by identifying alternatives and helping them with both academic and personal choices via individual appointments, drop-ins, and email/phone
• Maintain student files, communication, and notes related to advising including appointment summaries, curriculum sheets, concentration forms, substitution forms, minor forms, and other information as needed.

Education and Experience

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job related field. Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field.
• A master’s degree in a job related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
• Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the required knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.

Salary:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $29.32 per hour

Classification Range: $29.32 per hour to $41.70 per hour

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
