    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Associate Vice President Academic Technology & Campus Engagement, this position leads academic technology and services for the Division of Information Resources & Technology. Leadership includes supervision of staff as well as planning, execution, documentation, communication, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the resources and services offered by the Academic Technology department, which includes both academic and classroom technologies. Planning is done in consultation with IRT senior leadership and campus stakeholders. The Academic Technology department collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to provide campus-wide support for IRT core services, software platforms, and classroom design and infrastructure that support strategic campus goals for teaching, learning, and student success. This position aligns the priorities of the team with the campus-wide strategic plan and divisional goals.

    The position plays a leadership role in supporting academic technologies used to deliver face to face classroom, online, and hybrid courses at Sac State; this position also participates in requirements gathering and evaluations for new or replacement instructional and classroom tools. The position requires a strong pedagogical background to partner with faculty and ensure alignment between academic needs and technology. This position is responsible for engaging faculty, staff, and students in the adoption of tools that provide a good match for achieving their specific objectives.

    This position has a significant role in professional development of faculty, staff, and students; leading a team of developers and consultants to create training modules and documentation on use of technologies used to deliver instruction. This position stays informed about emerging instructional software, classroom design, and pedagogical applications of technology to facilitate active learning. This position has technical expertise in areas such as learning management systems, e-portfolios, lecture capture, classroom design and standards, accessibility, etc.

    This position is involved in a variety of strategic student success initiatives to improve retention and time to degree at Sac State; this position helps make strategic technologies sustainable by offering support, documentation, and training to meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students. This position is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of resources and services and engaging in continuous improvement activities by gathering feedback from faculty, staff, and students.

    This position has a strategic focus on supporting academic technology and CSU System Accessible Technology Initiatives (ATI) related projects and services offered by IRT. Additionally, this position participates in system-level meetings and engages in collaboration with partners from across the CSU.

    FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $10,000.00 per month - $11,500.00 per month

    Final salary determination will be based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,053.00 per month - $16,221.00 per month

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college. Five years experience leading delivery of academic technologies that support teaching, learning, and student success. Demonstrated experience managing a high-performing team of staff and student workers; responsibilities include setting performance standards and measures; providing appropriate levels of training, mentoring, and professional development; and fostering a strong sense of teamwork and cross-functional communication and collaboration. Demonstrated experience collaborating with diverse faculty, staff, and students and gathering feedback through surveys, focus groups, or other means. Demonstrated experience delivering training and support services to diverse audiences, such as faculty, staff, and/or students, in a variety of modalities. Demonstrated experience with a Learning Management system and with Learning Management modules and integrated applications such as collaboration tools, lecture capture, etc. Experience developing, documenting, and improving processes to improve quality, efficiency, and/or the end user experience. Experience with change management/change controls at the organizational and instutional level. Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging classroom and instructional technologies and pedagogies that promote active learning and engagement. Demonstrated knowledge of ADA Title II and WCAG 2.1 AA requirements to support delivery of accessible digital content including course materials. Familiarity with a quality assurance model for online courses such as Quality Matters or QOLT. Familiarity with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Copyright law in a higher education context. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Familiarity with accessible technologies and universal design principles. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community

    Preferred Qualifications

    Demonstrated experience with classroom technologies, including both pedagogical and technical expertise. Advanced Degree in education, instructional design, or related discipline. Experience teaching as a tenured faculty member at a tertiary-level institution. Experience providing support and training for some of the following: Office 365, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Degree Planners, College Scheduler, Qualtrics, e-Portfolio software, CidiLabs, Canvas, Lecture capture softwared (Panopto), and Zoom. Familiarity with classroom design and technical standards for providing consistent end-user experiences with campus spaces. Demonstrated experience applying project management principles to multiple complex projects; demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, achieve milestones, and complete projects successfully.
