    Presidential Aide


    Compensation and Benefits

    Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $6,000 to $7,500 per month

    This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

    Positions at Fresno State are to perform their work onsite. Some positions, depending upon University needs and operations, may be eligible for remote work, one day per week, pursuant to Fresno State's remote work guidelines and the CSU policy.

    The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year.     Job Summary

    Under the general supervision of the Chief Communications Officer and Chief of Staff and the President, the Presidential Aide provides high-level, strategic, and confidential support to the President and the Office of the President. This position plays a critical role in advancing presidential priorities by ensuring effective coordination, communication, and execution of both daily operations and long-term initiatives.

    The Presidential Aide operates with a high degree of autonomy and discretion, managing sensitive and complex matters requiring sound judgment, political acumen, and a comprehensive understanding of the University’s structure, governance, and strategic direction. The incumbent serves as an extension of the President, supporting decision-making, anticipating needs, resolving issues, and facilitating the efficient flow of information among internal and external stakeholders.

    Key Qualifications
    • Ability to work independently and make decisions both of commonplace and unusual work situations.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and conduct presentations and training.
    • Ability to make constructive recommendations for modifications or improvements of methods, procedures, techniques, technology or programs.
    • Ability to keep and maintain accurate data, complex records and files.
    • Demonstrated ability to deal appropriately with confidential information and exercise good judgment on sensitive matters and situations.
    • Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work under pressure, coordinate multiple work priorities and assignments under competing deadlines and maintain flexibility in response to constantly shifting priorities.
    • Track and coordinate highly detailed projects in a well-organized and efficient manner.
    • Exercise tact, good judgment, and discretion with ability to serve as a resource to students, staff and the community in responding to inquiries and providing detailed information.
    • Collaborate with others to help advance the goals of the department and university and demonstrate courtesy and respect towards others promoting a positive and service oriented collegial work environment.
    • Develop a complete understanding with the university organization and authority levels.

    Education and Experience
    • Five years of progressively responsible work experience providing high-level administrative support to senior leadership in a complex organization OR a combination of education and experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge and abilities listed above.

    Supplemental Information

    Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with California State University, Fresno. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.     The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

    This position may be a "designated position" under the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. This will require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within six (6) months of assuming office and every two (2) years thereafter.
