    Requirements

    MOS Codes: None

    Education and Experience : High School Diploma or GED, or higher and 6 months of experience working with youth or young adults.

    Licenses and Certifications : Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.

    General Purpose

    Under direct supervision, supports the City of El Paso Public Library’s Centre Future Re-engagement Center by serving as a peer mentor, outreach specialist, and facilitator for the “Opportunity Youth and Young Adults Program” (OYYA).

    Typical Duties

    Youth Outreach, Engagement, and Community Presence. Involves: Conducting peer-to-peer outreach to connect Opportunity Youth Young Adults (OYYA) to Centre Future services and supports aligned with the Texas Opportunity Youth Network (TOYN). Engage youth through tabling, community events, school visits, libraries, and partner locations. Build trust through one-on-one conversations, group presentations, and follow-up communication to encourage participation and reduce barriers to engagement.

    Enrollment, Navigation, and Participant Support. Involves: Assisting OYYA in navigating the intake and enrollment process, including scheduling appointments, welcoming participants, explaining available services, and supporting completion of required documentation. Support staff in gathering information used to develop Individualized Service Plans (ISP) and assist participants in connecting to education, workforce, and supportive resources available through Centre Future, the library, and aligned partners.

    Peer Mentorship and Supportive Environment Development. Involves: Serve as a peer mentor by fostering a safe, inclusive, and emotionally supportive environment for OYYA participants. Provide encouragement, guidance, and practical assistance during regular check-ins, workshops, and informal interactions. Support youth in developing confidence, self-advocacy skills, and a sense of belonging within the Centre Future space.

    Program Development, Co-Design, and Space Experience. Involves: Contribute to the planning and delivery of youth-centered programming. Assist in facilitating job-readiness, digital and creative skill-building, life skills, and wellness-focused workshops that support OYYA's educational and employment pathways. Collaborate with current and former OYYA to provide input on the use, layout, and overall experience of the center, and participate in brainstorming and feedback discussions to enhance accessibility, inclusivity, youth engagement, and a welcoming, supportive environment.

    Marketing, Outreach Materials, and Awareness Building. Involves: Support outreach and awareness efforts by assisting with the creation and distribution of flyers, signs, social media content, and informational materials that highlight Centre Future services. Assist in sharing program updates and resources through approved platforms to increase visibility and reach among OYYA.

    Feedback, Data Tracking, and Continuous Improvement. Involves: Maintain records of outreach contacts, participant engagement, and event attendance as directed. Gather feedback from OYYA participants and share observations with staff to support continuous improvement of outreach strategies, programming, and service delivery.

    Collaboration and Partnership Support. Involves: Work collaboratively with library staff, Centre Future team members, and community partners participating to support referrals, programming, and youth engagement efforts. Participate in team meetings, trainings, and planning sessions to strengthen coordination and program impact.
