    JOB SUMMARY
    The Environmental Analyst III utilizes extensive environmental and technical knowledge to conduct research, prepare complex reports and presentations, develop applications and interpretations of data and coordinates regulatory compliance. The Environmental Analyst serves in a leadership role for planning, forecasting and modeling.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Prepares complex knowledge based products such as reports, presentations and assessments in support of all departments to resolve technical and scientific issues.
    • Performs statistical/graphic data analysis for monitoring, evaluating and modeling of SAWS environmental programs and operations.
    • Analyzes andinterprets environmental and public health data, reports and studies by applying principles of Engineering, Environmental Law and regulations and scientific analysis.
    • Advises and guides management staff on permits, regulations and legislation that may impact operations.
    • Leads teams to develop, participate and implement long range strategic and master plans.
    • Audits safety, security and environmental programs across SAWS.
    • Participates in research projects with outside water industry groups and academic institutions related to water quality, public health and emergency preparedness and response.
    • Analyzes complex data and delivers summary presentations to management and various other groups.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    DECISION MAKING
    • The Environmental Analyst III works under limited supervision.
    • May provide functional guidance to teams and groups of up to 20.
    • Typically takes initiative in planning/performing work for months at a time.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    • A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or Science; Public Administration or related field from an institution accredited by a recognized accrediting agency.
    • Minimum seven years' similar work experience with water/wastewater operational experience.
    • Required license or certification in at least one of the following: Registered Environmental Manager, Registered Sanitarian, Industrial Hygienist, Professional Geologist or Qualified Environmental Professional.
    • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
    • Able to use word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • A Master's Degree in Environmental or Public Administration field.
    • TCEQ Class "B" Water or Wastewater Operator License.

    JOB DIMENSIONS
    • Frequent contact with internal and external customers, middle and executive management, governmental agencies, consultants, attorneys, representatives from academic and professional associations.
    • Occasional need to meet with employees on 24/7 shifts and weekends.
    • Attend evening meetings with civic and neighborhood groups. Travel may be required.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
    Working conditions are in an office environment with occasional field visits. May be required to wear personal protective equipment including respiratory protection. Occasional exposure to fumes, odors, gasses, chemicals and dust.
