    Austin Energy is seeking an Inventory Planner I, responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily inventory planning for the supply chain team supporting ESD North operations. This will include activites such as creating and reconciling inventory reports for multiple essential utiliy prodcuts and advising staff on ordering material for future requirements. You will work closely with inventory control management, work management, contract management specialist, warehouse personnel, vendors and other supply chain personnel to ensure proper inventory levels are properly maintained at multiple warehouse locations and lay down yards.

    Additionally, analytical skills will strongly contribute to providing deep insight into patterns, trends, and cost reduction potential as the utility continues its rapid growth.

    This position will also work with a team to direct and coordinate supply chain functions through strategy, resource optimization, and sourcing efficiencies.

    Job Description:

    Inventory Planner I

    Purpose:

    This position performs duties associated with tasks required to ensure availability of inventory to meet customer requirements while maintaining optimum inventory investment.
    • Manages stock levels of inventory by applying fundamental inventory control techniques; monitoring and updating stock item forecasts, minimum and maximum stock levels, replenishment lead times, and coordinates stock level adjustments with stakeholders.
    • Manages customer materials requirements by preparing spreadsheets that analyze customer requirements versus supply chain materials availability; coordinating procurement; acts as single point of contact to resolve materials availability issues, and provides updates of materials availability to stakeholders.
    • Recommends improvements to inventory management processes by identifying critical path areas; communicates and coordinates corrective actions with stakeholders.
    • Monitors, analyzes and evaluates inventory management data by reviewing inventory reports including inventory turnover, customer service rate, stock out, and critical stock items status and recommending actions to maximize return on investment and materials availability.
    • Manages inventory system data integrity by performing adjustments to system parameters, develops procedures for data maintenance, and assists stakeholders with updating stock item data.
    • Manages inventory based on system data and recommends removal of idle, excess, and obsolete stock with stakeholders.
    • Coordinates and conducts quarterly and annual physical inventory and fixed asset audits.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics; or other related field. Experience may substitute for education.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
    • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License, if required for the position.
    • If required for the position, legally mandated training must be completed within 1 year of employment.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Ability to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts, along with identifying and implementing process improvements.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Able to work independently, set priorities and manage multiple tasks.
    • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
    • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
    • Proficient with Office 365, MS Word, Outlook, Teams etc. advanced experience with MS Excel.
    • Maximo or similar enterprise asset management systems.

    Pay Range: Entry: $56,070.00 - Mid: $67,570.00

    Schedule: Monday - Friday (7:00AM - 4:00PM)

    Driving Requirement:

    This position requires a Valid Texas Class "C" Drivers License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

    Critical:

    This position has been designated as a Critical Employee position. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and supports activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services.
