    Job Overview

    Under general direction of the Director, Office of Academic Advising, the Senior Academic Advisor performs advanced, complex academic advising and student services work in a centralized advising environment. The incumbent independently assesses and responds to highly complex student situations requiring extensive analysis, professional judgment, and discretion.

    This position provides comprehensive advising to undergraduate students regarding general education, major and minor requirements, graduation requirements, academic planning, enrollment pace, and university policies. The role supports student retention, progression, and graduation through intrusive advising strategies, targeted interventions, and individualized academic planning, particularly for students experiencing academic difficulty or unique circumstances.

    In addition, the Senior Academic Advisor provides lead coordination and oversight of assigned programs, services, or processes, collaborates with advising leadership on strategic initiatives, and contributes to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the university’s centralized academic advising model.

    Position Summary

    Senior Academic Advisor (Student Services Professional III)

    This is a full-time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

    Pay, Benefits, and Work Schedule

    Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,540 - $5,711 per month

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,540 - $7,893 per month

    Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.

    This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year; 14 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
