POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATIONUnder general supervision, the Seasonal Specialist performs semi-skilled manual labor in the maintenance and repair of the municipal water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater collection systems. Duties include assisting with system construction, responding to service calls, and maintaining assets. This role requires the physical stamina to perform strenuous field operations in various environmental conditions.
This seasonal position begins April 14 th and ends October 10 th .
The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications Required :- Must be at least 16 years of age to apply, must be 18 for most positions; limited positions are available for applicants ages 16 and 17
- Knowledge of the safe use and operation of hand and power tools
Preferred: - Valid driver’s license and maintenance of a safe driving record
- Previous experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Manual labor
- Construction
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
Physical Requirements Work is physical in nature and requires sufficient physical strength and stamina to:
- Occasionally sit while driving to work assignments and performing office tasks; frequently stand and constantly walk on uneven terrain in all weather conditions to safely complete assigned tasks
- Occasional squatting, twisting, climbing, and balancing to inspect assigned areas
- Frequently crouch, squat, bend, twist, and kneel in awkward confined spaces; frequently climb equipment, trenches, and 45-foot ladders through 24-inch diameter manholes
- Frequent light and firm grasp to properly use tools and equipment; occasional fine manipulation use to perform office duties
- Occasional step up and down to enter and exit vehicles and climb ladders up to 45 feet
- Constant near and far acuity and hearing to safely perform duties
- Occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds from ground to waist to move manhole covers; occasional lifting of up to 80 pounds from ground to shoulder to move cement bags and equipment, and occasional lifting of 40 pounds overhead; occasional carrying and pushing and pulling of up to 100 pounds 20 feet to lift and move manhole covers
WORKING CONDITIONS Work is constantly performed indoors and outdoors with constant exposure to extreme temperatures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical parts and high-speed rotating equipment; work is performed in high and precarious places with exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, and/or airborne particles.
Required Materials and Equipment Operates light equipment such as hand and power tools, gas detectors, air compressors, air blowers, tripods, vacuums, mops, floor machines, brooms, and cleaning materials and agents. Depending on the project, may also utilize small tools such as hammers, shovels, saws, measuring tape, levels, drills, and power tools to complete assigned responsibilities.
