    POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION

    The Golf Course Attendant position is responsible for providing excellent customer service, helping with golf carts, ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the clubhouse, and picking up range balls. This position works at either of the City’s two golf courses, Legacy Ridge or Walnut Creek Golf Preserve. This position requires the availability to work varied hours including holidays, evenings, early mornings, and weekends.

    The availability of work hours for this position will be determined by one or more of these factors: program length, weather, and budget. The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.

    JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

    Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Tasks
    1. Provides excellent customer service
    • Welcomes customers with a verbal greeting and smile
    • Answers questions and directs customers to appropriate staff member or location
    2. Cares for golf cart fleet
    • Drives golf carts
    • Cleans golf carts
    • Maintains golf carts
    • Stage carts for daily play and tournaments
    3. Picks range balls
    • Drives a caged range picker
    • Loads and operates range equipment
    4. Performs basic maintenance and cleaning
    • Washes range balls and golf carts
    • Disinfects carts, range balls, public areas, and workspace
    • Cleans golf cart barn, parking lot, clubhouse and clubhouse grounds
    • Puts out and picks up golf course amenities daily
    • Opens/closes work area (gates, doors, garages)
    5. Maintains regular and punctual attendance
    • Arrives on time and ready to work
    • Arrives in uniform and with ID badge
    Other Duties and Responsibilities
    1. Works in a fast-paced environment
    2. Understands and enforces golf course polices
    3. Conducts oneself in accordance with Club policies as stated in the employee handbook (i.e., ethical standards, harassment, discrimination, drug free workplace, and conduct at work)
    Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job, other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City’s discretion.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

    Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses and Certifications
    Required :
    • Must be at least 16 years of age
    • A valid driver’s license, provide proof of a safe driving record, and maintain a safe driving record for continued employment
    Preferred :
    Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
    Physical Requirements
    This position requires a moderate degree of physical stamina and strength, including the ability to:
    • Frequently sit, stand and walk through a multi-level facility
    • Occasionally squat, bend, kneel, twist, climb, balance and reach over head
    • Occasionally lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds
    • Frequently use hands and fingers for fine manipulation; occasionally use light and firm grasp
    • Frequently see objects up close to perform office tasks and far away to observe activity for safety hazards or problems
    • Constantly use hearing to interact with guests and staff and recognize trouble outside of view
    • Occasionally use sufficient physical strength, stamina and agility to perform emergency work in various capacities
    • Be able to stand in heat or cold temperatures for long periods of time

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Work performed includes indoor and outdoor activity and exposure to extreme temperatures. Work is performed in a public golf course setting in which instruction and basic golf course maintenance are performed year-round. Exposure to periods of high activity and stress under demanding conditions.
    Required Materials and Equipment
    Golf carts and driving range equipment used in the daily operation of a golf course, plus other cleaning tools including a power washer and vacuum.

    Candidates must be legally entitled to work in the United States and must successfully pass a criminal background check, reference check, and substance screen. There may be additional pre-employment requirements depending on the nature of the position.
