    Role

    Yavapai County Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer III to lead and advance our cybersecurity administration efforts. This role is instrumental in protecting the County’s technology infrastructure and strengthening our overall security posture.

    The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, along with proven expertise integrating enterprise and third-party applications with complex environments.

    Major Duties, Responsibilities

    • Oversees the ensuring of network/system availability to include all centralized and internet-based resources; communicates status of requested services to county-wide departmental liaisons. Services include (but not limited to): responds to service calls, provides technical expertise, and ensures timely resolution of customer reported problems.
    • Oversees small to medium individual and multi-department projects within the ITS project portfolio while observing established ITS project management procedures. Using appropriate technology, creates project deliverables as specified for the project; examples include a requirements document, statement of work, test plans and diagrams.
    • Collaborates with county-wide IT stakeholders to define requirements and translate such business needs into technical solutions; provides recommendations for software and/or systems.
    • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains custom systems; prepares test plans for assigned systems and develops test data and tests procedures for those systems.
    • Prepares and maintains customer and internal documentation.
    • Assists in providing technical assistance and training to junior staff.
    • Provides level III technical expertise.
    • Performs varied systems analysis, configuration, and implementation work.
    • Assists in developing departmental standards and procedures; complies with all County and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Maintains expertise in current technologies.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field.

    Experience:
    A minimum of four (4) years of experience in information technology or related field. An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.

    Additional Requirements:
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

    • Understanding and communicating information about complex systems to individuals with varying levels of expertise.
    • Organizing work, setting priorities, and meeting critical deadlines.
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
    • Organization and adherence to detail.

    • Provide support and guidance to junior staff on the more technically challenging issues and assignments.

    • Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

    Work Environment:
    The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl under desks, and walk on uneven ground. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in person and telephonically. Standing and walking between work areas is frequently required. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Capable of occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds.
