    INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES
    The El Dorado County IT Department helps provide secure, reliable, sustainable, modern, flexible, and effective information technology infrastructure to support the business objectives of County departments. The vision of the Information Technologies (IT) staff is a commitment to deliver creative, practical solutions and services in support of the current and future technological needs of El Dorado County.

    THE OPPORTUNITY

    The Information Security Analyst performs a variety of professional level information technology activities related to the coordination and implementation of County-wide cyber security compliance activities and operations, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information technology systems; provides expertise in cyber security for the County; assesses information and facilitates remediation of identified vulnerabilities with the County enterprise network, systems and applications; report on findings and recommendations for corrective action; and performs other duties as assigned.

    The selected candidates will have the opportunity to:
    • Participate in County-wide technology security program which includes, but is not limited to, security awareness, risk assessment, business impact analysis, disaster recovery, and business resumption.
    • Monitor the integrity and security of County networks and all related components, including human element, physical and virtual servers, domain controllers, desktops, laptops, printers, and other devices that utilize the County network.
    • Scan and monitor network activity, filter malicious activity and virus probability.
    • Conduct continuous analysis to identify network and system security vulnerabilities.
    • Assist in the development, coordination, and maintenance of policies related to Local Area Network, Wide Area Network, mainframe, and desktop information security issues.
    • Make recommendations of solutions to ensure requirements are met for systems and/or applications.
    • Integrate and align information security and/or information assurance policies to ensure system analysis meets security requirements
    • Research and recommend centralized written manuals and procedures regarding security controls.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

    The ideal candidate will be an experienced cybersecurity professional with a strong technical foundation and a collaborative approach. This individual will demonstrate experience in risk assessments, network security, vulnerability assessments, and incident response, as well as proficiency in developing and implementing security policies and compliance audits. Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable recommendations are essential. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who can train and guide others, foster positive working relationships, and maintain a customer-service-oriented mindset. They will be detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to safeguarding the County’s information assets.

    Human Resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following recommendations: A combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying; however, education may not solely substitute for the required experience.

    Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field

    and

    Four (4) years of professional experience providing analytical support that included substantial responsibility for planning, administering and ensuring network and other systems security.

    Licenses and Certifications:
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain a valid California or Nevada Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.

    The County of El Dorado is recruiting applicants for Information Security Analyst. This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future full time, part time, limited term and extra help vacancies for at least three (3) months. In accordance with Personnel Rules 1103.1 and 1105.1, an extra help or limited term employee may be transitioned into a regular employee if the department in which the employee works has a vacant allocated position for the same classification as held by the extra help or limited term employee and the appointing authority requests such transfer.
