  • Job Description

    BASIC FUNCTION :

    • Serve as the lead instructor for the Manufacturing curriculum, including maintenance of Machine Shop laboratory and appropriate technology;
    • Order, maintain, and ensure the proper use of equipment in the manufacturing lab
    • Organize and teach all levels of community college manufacturing courses, which currently include manual and CNC machining equipment, software and computers and welding/ fabrication
    • Instruction and classroom management of certificate and degree level courses in manufacturing.
    • Identification and development of course curriculum, including project based learning and other methods of instruction to foster student success
    • Organize and teach specialized courses in welding/manufacturing according to one’s background and expertise
    • Facilitate student learning by working to develop every student’s abilities and by designing varied and motivating learning environments
    • Prepare complete course syllabi and outlines, recruit students, and work with articulation agreements with local colleges and schools
    • Create course schedules and class rotations.
    • Providing student advisement for program participants.
    • Maintaining student records.
    • Maintaining program equipment and safe work environments.
    • Have an understanding of equipment and tooling required to instruct students to develop skills necessary to gain employment in manufacturing
    • Develop and maintain a relevant community college manufacturing curriculum, including appropriate transfer/articulation agreements with four-year colleges and universities;
    • Work with staff in the welding, automotive, and other related departments, as well as other academic programs at the college
    • Work with other non-academic departments at Yuba College
    • Establishing and fostering mutually beneficial relationships with business and industry.
    • Maintain an active advisory committee with local businesses to ensure an up-to-date curriculum and assist students with job placement upon graduation
    • Facilitate student learning by using appropriate teaching methods;
    • Develop and maintain relevant curriculum for the manufacturing program
    • Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning, (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses;
    • Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees; and
    • Be committed to, and participate in, the share-governance process
    • Be able to perform the tasks required in a manufacturing shop such as; lifting, bending, standing and other tasks associated with the position Essential Duties Summary • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Required Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :

    The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Welding at California Community Colleges: (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be from accredited institutions.)

    • Any associates degree and six years of experience OR
    • Any bachelor’s degree and two years of experience OR
    • The equivalent OR
