Albemarle County is seeking a
Chief of Project Management to lead the design and construction of capital projects that shape our community’s future. This role oversees a team of project managers and ensures successful delivery of infrastructure projects from concept to completion.
Responsibilities:- Manage planning, design, and construction of capital projects.
- Develop and monitor budgets and schedules.
- Establish best practices for project delivery.
- Coordinate with departments and external partners.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project management staff.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, civil engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years in technical project management; supervisory experience preferred.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
- Strong knowledge of building codes and construction methods.

The Salary Range: The hiring range for this position is $115,529 - $127,689 per year. Starting offer is based on applicable education beyond minimum requirements and internal equity. The position also provides excellent benefits including 12 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance, VRS retirement, and continuing education/training opportunities. This is a full time, FLSA exempt position. Internal candidates will receive pay adjustments in accordance with Local Government Personnel Policy, §P-60.
