    (Student Services Professional III)

    Compensation and Benefits

    Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,540 - $5,817 per month

    Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,540 - $7,893 per month
    • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

    The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year.     Job Summary

    Under general direction, the Coordinator, African American/Black Programs and Services designs, implements, and evaluates identity-informed student success initiatives that promote academic achievement, persistence, retention, and belonging for students within the African American/Black community. Furthermore, this position ensures that services, programs, and supports are available to all students, with initiatives informed by institutional data to address identified student needs.

    The Coordinator provides direct student engagement, academic mentoring, and case-managed support while contributing to Center-wide retention and graduation efforts through coordinated care, data analysis, and cross-campus collaboration. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing student outcomes by translating culturally responsive practices into tangible, measurable impact. The Coordinator allocates 40% of assigned responsibilities to the planning, coordination, and assessment of student engagement programs and initiatives, and 60% to providing comprehensive case management, academic mentoring, referral coordination, and documentation in support of student success and retention.

    Key Qualifications
    • Design, implement, and assess identity-informed student success initiatives that foster academic achievement, retention, and belonging
    • Analyze student success trends, equity gaps, and high-impact practices to inform targeted interventions and program improvements
    • Provide proactive academic coaching, mentoring, and case-managed support to students navigating academic, personal, financial, or institutional barriers
    • Engage students who disclose sensitive or personal information with cultural humility, care, and professionalism
    • Collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate qualitative and quantitative data to demonstrate program effectiveness and inform decision-making
    • Maintain accurate documentation of student interactions, referrals, and outcomes using campus systems

    Education and Experience
    • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related and three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.
      • A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.
