    Position Description

    Are you passionate about community engagement, smart city solutions, and making everyday systems work better for everyone? The Public Works Department is looking for a Transportation Services and Parking Program Manager to join our team! We’re looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking professional to help lead and strengthen the City’s parking system while building meaningful connections with the community.

    In this role, you’ll oversee community engagement efforts, manage a variety of parking programs, and lead special projects that support the City’s parking operations citywide. You’ll serve as a key point of connection between the City, residents, businesses, and stakeholders-ensuring parking programs are clear, effective, and responsive to community needs.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education*
    Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, engineering or directly related field

    Minimum Experience*
    5 years of planning, engineering and/or program management experience including 1 year prior at senior, lead and/or supervisory level

    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
    Washington State Driver's License

    *Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education

    Desirable Qualifications
    A master's degree in transportation planning or 7+ years' experience working in municipal parking and/or transportation programs.

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Lead public outreach and community engagement related to parking programs and policy changes
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and the public
    • Manage and improve parking programs, including setting performance standards and tracking results
    • Oversee staff, budgets, and financial planning to ensure responsible use of the Parking Enterprise Fund
    • Lead special projects from concept to completion, including preparing procurement and contract documents
    • Ensure parking strategies align with city policies, best practices, and long-term planning goals

    Compensation & Benefits
    Pay Details:

    Hourly Rate: $54.60 - $76.88

    Annual Salary: $113,568.00 - $159,910.40

    Medical Coverage: For eligible employees and their families, including domestic partners and dependent children age26 or younger.

    Paid Leave: City employees are entitled to received paid holidays, sick/vacation leave or personal time off (PTO), depending upon union affiliation and appointment type.

    Insurance Plans: Employees are covered by a long-term disability plan. Short-term and expanded long-term disability insurance plans are also available to employees. The State Industrial Insurance Act also covers employees.

    Deferred Compensation: Income can be set aside on a pretax basis and invested for supplementation of normal retirement income.

    Retirement: All employees of the City, except members of the Police and Fire services, Tacoma Rail and certain project employees, are included in the Tacoma Employees' Retirement System.     Other Employment Information

    Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

    Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

    Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
