    Role

    Under minimal supervision, performs work managing the technical needs of the Yavapai Library Network (YLN) and Yavapai County Free Library District (YCFLD).

    Major Duties, Responsibilities

    • Ensures network/system availability, to include all centralized and internet-based resources.
    • Sets up, configures, and maintains patron and staff IT related equipment.
    • Manages library computer networks including servers, filters, and firewalls.
    • Ensures configured equipment is compliant with Federal and State laws.
    • Collects and reports statistics required by the State of Arizona.
    • Manages RFID Server for all Yavapai Library Network (YLN) Libraries.
    • Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations.
    • Works with external vendors.
    • Obtains quotes to assist with budget preparation.
    • Creates and maintains accurate inventories, network diagrams, and documentation of various hardware and software systems.
    • Tracks equipment lifecycles, warranties, and replacement schedules.
    • Trains library coordinators and YCFLD/YLN staff on cybersecurity trends and best practices.
    • Works with the YLN manager and the Technology Committee to create the Technology Plan.
    • Collaborates with YLN stakeholders to define requirements and translate such business needs into technical solutions; provides recommendations for software and/or systems.
    • Performs after-hours/weekend support as needed.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    Associate’s Degree in Information Systems or closely related field.

    Experience:
    A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in Information Technology or closely related field. An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.

    Additional Requirements:
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

    Knowledge of:
    • Microsoft operating systems and applications.
    • Information Technology and its practices as it relates to networking, server administration.
    • Troubleshooting computers and other IT equipment.
    • Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
    • Clerical office practices and procedures.
    • Research techniques and report writing.
    • Current Microsoft Office software.
    • Filing and recordkeeping.

    Skill in:
    • Customer service.
    • Technology troubleshooting.
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
    • Organization and adherence to detail.

    Ability to:
    • Anticipate system and network security/integrity risks and recommend adequate safeguards.
    • Understand, interpret, and apply library policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
    • Handle difficult situations with diplomacy and to discuss technical issues effectively with other IT professionals as well as non-technical users in the libraries.
    • Prioritize work, meet deadlines, and make independent decisions.
    • Work independently with oversight.
    • Work under pressure in a highly dynamic work environment with changing demands and priorities.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
    • Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
    • Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
    • Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
    • Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

    Work Environment:
    The work environment is associated with an office and County vehicle and requires travel from site to site. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and crawl under desks, and walk on uneven ground routinely. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
