    Role

    The Yavapai County School Superintendent's Office is seeking an Education Services Director to articulate and develop programs and direct the work of the agency in providing services to County schools and educators.

    Major Duties, Responsibilities

    • Coordinates and facilitates with schools, businesses, civic and other organizations and agencies to set goals, objectives, and action plans.
    • Administers and manages all discretionary funding sources and programs for the School Superintendents Office.
    • Collaborates with external agencies to identify educational priorities and grant proposals that support the programs, activities, and staff to provide services to schools in the county.
    • Creates and maintains effective communication with staff of ESA, School Superintendents/School Administrators, and federal and state funding agencies.
    • Coordinates with legal in the development of a various contractual agreements and arrangements with various internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assists in the development, implementation and communication of department and county policies, procedures, and programs.
    • Supervises, mentors, and evaluates staff.
    • Projects staffing patterns and fill vacancies to serve all districts, both long and short term.
    • Provides reports of programs and executes budget recommendations and decisions to maximize resources.
    • Maintains compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations demonstrating knowledge about and the ability to apply relevant federal and state statutes, regulations, case law and policies that impact all children.
    • Represents the School Superintendents Office as designated on County and State councils.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration Special Education or closely related field.

    Experience
    :
    A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in grants management, education administration, or closely related field.

    An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.

    Additional Requirements:
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of:

    • Creation and management of program budgets.
    • Grant management and administration.
    • State and county education laws, policies, district procedures, and general information pertaining to county schools.
    • Knowledge of state and federal education initiatives.
    • Principles and practices of management and supervision.
    • A variety of specialized techniques to assess and serve individual students and their unique needs.
    • Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
    • Clerical office practices and procedures.
    • Research techniques and report writing.
    • Current Microsoft Office software.
    • Filing and recordkeeping.

    Skill in:
    • Using data processing systems.
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
    • Organization and adherence to detail.

    Ability to:
    • Implement, manage, and create budgets and projections.
    • Maintain a cooperative partnership with schools, agencies, detention, and probation personnel as applicable.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
    • Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
    • Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
    • Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
    • Design and deliver professional development programs
    • Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

    Work Environment:
    The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to bend, crouch, and lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
