Overview
The Public Works Technician II - Concrete will be responsible for performing skilled work in the carpentry and maintenance of City streets, with curbs & gutters, sidewalks, driveway repair or concrete drainage infrastructure, maintenance and repair guardrail, and crash cushion, operates various street maintenance light equipment in effort to meet the yearly goal of street maintenance and repairs
Responsibilities
- Form building and preparation: Constructing temporary wooden forms for pouring concrete foundations, curbs and drainage structures
- Level and brace forms to ensure precise placement and stability of poured concrete; smooth and finish form surfaces for optimal concrete finish
- Assist in techniques like bull floating, troweling, and brushing to achieve desired concrete texture
- Create expansion joints and control joints to prevent future cracking
- I nstall precast concrete elements like curbs, gutters, and drainage components
- Build wooden frames for sidewalks, ramps, and accessibility feature
- Ensure forms meet plans and specifications
- Install prefabricated wooden elements like benches, handrails, and signage
- Replace or repair damaged wooden components of sidewalks, ramps, and drainage structures
- Fabricate and install wooden safety and accessibility features like bollards, railings, and tactile indicators
- Skillful operation of saws, drills, sanders, and other power tools commonly used in carpentry
- Ability to use hammers, chisels, levels, squares, and other hand tools for precise measurements and cutting
- Familiar with trowels, screeds, floats, and other tools used for finishing and working with concrete
- A ble to lead a team (Public Work Technician I's) if needed
- Keep materials stocked in vehicles assignment, communicate when supply/ material is low
- Respond to after hours and weekend emergencies
- Must work under emergency responses during and/ or after any city emergency event. Example: Hurricanes, tropical storms, ice storms, or any other city emergencies
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
- Non-Exempt - Full-Time (Non-Rotating, Monday - Thursday, 6:30am - 5:30pm)
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
- In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED
- Two (2) years of experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
- Registration with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse if candidate has CDL
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
Preferred
- Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) -Class B with Air brake endorsement

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
