Overview The Public Works Technician III - Concrete is responsible for performing skilled work in carpentry and maintenance of City streets, with curbs & gutters, sidewalks, repair or reset concrete drainage infrastructure, maintenance and repair with bridge guardrail, and crash cushion, operates various street maintenance light equipment in effort to meet the yearly goal of street maintenance and repairs
Responsibilities • Lead crews in placing concrete for foundations, sidewalks, driveways, curbs, and drainage structures
• Ensure forms are precise for placement and stability of placed concrete
• Assist in Smoothing and finishing form surfaces for optimal concrete finish
• Apply various finishing techniques like bull floating, troweling, and brushing to achieve desired concrete texture
• Create expansion joints and control joints to prevent future cracking
• Install precast concrete elements like curbs, gutters, and drainage components
• Assist and provide directions for carpenters in forming sidewalks, ramps, and driveways
• Assist in installing prefabricated wooden elements like benches, handrails, and signage
• Install or create concrete elements for sidewalks, ramps, and drainage structures, accessibility features like bollards, railings, and tactile indicators
• Skilled operation of saws, drills, sanders, and other power tools commonly used in carpentry
• Proficient use of hammers, chisels, levels, squares, and other hand tools for precise measurements and cutting
• Familiar with trowels, screeds, floats, and other tools used for finishing and working with concrete
• Must be able to lead a team, if needed
• Keep materials stock in vehicles assignment, must communicate when supply/material is low
• Able to work in high traffic areas
• Must be able to evaluate safe work conditions
• Must be proficient in decision making
• Must be able to lead Public Works Tech I & II
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work • Non-Exempt - Full-Time
• Monday-Thursday 6:30am-5:30PM
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma / GED
• Four (4) years of experience
Licenses and Certifications Required • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications • Texas Commercial Driver License Class B with air brake endorsement (Preferred)
• Candidate must register with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse if candidate has CDL

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
