Overview The Construction Inspector II on the Subdivision Team is responsible for performing advanced-level inspections and oversight of construction activities within residential and commercial subdivisions. This role ensures that all construction work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and project specifications, focusing on quality, safety, and adherence to approved plans.
Responsibilities • Conduct detailed inspections of construction sites within assigned subdivisions, including roads, drainage systems, utilities, and other infrastructure. Verifies that construction work adheres to approved plans, specifications, local codes, and standards
• Identify and document any deviations from project specifications, and work with contractors to resolve issues
• Monitor the progress of construction projects to ensure timely completion and compliance with established timelines
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, maintain accurate records of site visits, and document any discrepancies or issues encountered
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address and resolve construction-related concerns
• Assist in reviewing and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and contracts
• Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with applicable safety regulations and practices
• Provide guidance and support to junior inspectors or other team members as needed
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work • Exempt - Full-Time
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Qualifications • High School Diploma/GED
• Five (5) years of experience in municipal infrastructure construction or other related fields
Licenses and Certifications Required • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
