    The Job

    The Department of Public Health through the Perinatal Equity Initiative (PEI)is seeking a Project Coordinator* to plan, develop, direct and manage the day-to-day activities of the PEI which focuses on working to improve black infant birth outcomes and reducing infant mortality through culturally competent and affirming service delivery. Duties of the Project Coordinator include but are not limited to:
    • Manage the joint community advisory board.
    • Ensure contract compliance for PEI subcontractors.
    • Plan and develop health care implementation strategies to address:
      • Identified health needs
      • Access to care
      • Availability of services
      • Quality and cost- effectiveness of the health care delivery system for PEI clients
    • Engage and collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts.
    • Investigate, analyze, and monitor PEI health status indicators.
    • Support efforts to effectively address the healthcare needs of the Black/African American priority population served by PEI.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

    Travel: Travel throughout the County and State may be required. Employees will be required to make provisions for local transportation; travel throughout the State will be at the provision of the employer. Mileage reimbursement is available.

    Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require Visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants must meet both the Education and Experience requirements listed below:

    Experience:

    Two ( 2) years of full-time equivalent project management experience in which the primary responsibility includes oversight and coordination of projects, defining project scope, and developing and meeting project timelines.

    * Substitution: One (1) additional year of qualifying experience can be substituted for the educational requirement listed below.

    Education:

    Thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units of completed college coursework from an accredited college or university, in public, business or health administration; nursing; social work; epidemiology; health science; or a closely related field.

    Completion of the Management Leadership Academy (MLA) program in the County of San Bernardino will be accepted toward the required coursework on the basis of 4 quarter units of credit per MLA management or executive track completed.

    *Note: A list of completed college coursework must be submitted with the application if the candidate does not possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in one (1) of the fields of study listed above. Unofficial transcripts are accepted.

    Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
