DPW ABOUT THE POSITIONUnder the direction of the Supervising Reprographic Technician, the Reprographic Technician works with a variety of high-speed copiers and printers related to printing and wide format reproduction to produce a variety of County records and documents. The Reprographic Technician will also:
- Provide customers with excellent customers as they assist users with submitting job requisitions using the online WEB2Print management application system.
- Provide support in all aspects of the production; set priorities, tracking progress and resolving schedule conflicts and problems.
- Participate in the ongoing administrative aspects including deliveries, paper organization, clean up, machine maintenance and stocking of products.
ABOUT YOUOur Highly Qualified Candidate is mechanically inclined and has a strong printing or graphic arts background and can supervise and work within safety guidelines while being comfortable in a fast-paced and noisy environment. We are looking for someone who is well-rounded and can successfully operate and train staff on a variety of machines from press to new age digital machines.
Our ideal candidate also has the ability to work with Department and Countywide executives on media and other public information publications and is well versed in the Public Sector funding sources and approval procedures.
Additionally, our ideal candidate has experience in:
- Running Y-Format & digital machines
- Machine maintenance
- Priority software
- Automation
- Illustration
QUALIFICATIONSKNOWLEDGE OF- The types, qualities, weights and uses of paper, inks, solvents and patented products used with offset printing and xerography machines.
- Operation and production capabilities of offset printing and high speed copying machines.
- Methods and techniques of making plates and masters, including care of equipment used and plates.
- Maintenance techniques for offset printing and copying machines;
- Layout, typesetting and paste-up.
- Use and care of associated binding equipment.
- Basic supervising principles and practices.
ABILITY TO- Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work of others.
- Train others in work procedures.
- Prioritize production work assignments.
- Operate, adjust and maintain offset printing and high speed xerography machine and auxiliary equipment safely, effectively and efficiently.
- Perform typesetting, layout and, paste-up tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Follow written and oral work instructions.
- Perform arithmetic calculations.
- Set up, adjust and operate collating, folding and various bindery equipment.
- Operate camera and plate-making equipment including stripping of negatives and developing of film and plates.
- Work in a noisy production environment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSESEquivalent to two years of experience in a print shop environment, which demonstrates possession of the following knowledge and ability requirements.
