    The Position

    Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

    The Nevada Department of Corrections is hiring an Admin Assistant 1 at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs, Nevada, and provides vital administrative and program support within a designated section or division. The incumbent serves in a generalist role, performing a wide range of duties that may include assisting program clientele in person or by phone, explaining procedures, reviewing forms for completeness, and issuing notices. Responsibilities also include administrative support such as scheduling appointments, arranging meetings, managing correspondence, and handling routine inquiries. The role involves maintaining accurate records in accordance with state regulations.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of clerical experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records, answering telephones, and reviewing forms, documents and other written materials; OR six months of experience as an Administrative Aid in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
