OverviewAt the Larimer County Department of Human Services, we work in partnership with our community to ensure individuals and families are healthy, supported, and safe. Our Children, Youth, and Family (CYF) Division is seeking a motivated and compassionate Intake Specialist (Temporary) to join our team.
This position plays a key role in receiving and documenting child and adult protection referrals, providing information to community members, and entering details into multiple computer systems. The work is fast-paced, collaborative, and impactful, with most duties performed by phone.
Temporary Intake Specialists work flexible hours based on coverage needs between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and may occasionally assist with other departmental tasks, such as transporting children for scheduled visitations.
This is a hybrid position, requiring at least one in-office day per week. Reliable internet access and a suitable remote workspace are needed. Larimer County provides an annual remote work stipend to support your home office setup.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be doing:
- Conducting phone interviews and documenting referrals for both child and adult protection.
- Monitoring and managing a shared email inbox to ensure timely follow-up on incoming tasks and referrals.
- Providing crisis intervention and connecting clients and community members with appropriate resources.
- Responding to in-person requests, including walk-ins, runaways, and juveniles in law enforcement custody.
- Communicating with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth shift transitions and continuity of care.
- Covering full-time staff shifts as needed, both on a scheduled and emergency basis.

- Two (2) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's Degree, or equivalent education, from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, certification as a Notary Public required.

This is a hybrid position and will require at least one day/week in the office. You will be required to have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides an annual remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces.
In-office work could be performed at one of the following three locations: 1501 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins, CO; 2555 Midpoint Drive, Fort Collins, CO; 200 Peridot Avenue, Loveland, CO
