    Essential Job Functions

    • Assists in the management of programming, design, construction and post-construction of County capital projects.
    • Assists in developing and providing space information on all County-owned or leased properties by researching record documents, reading plans, and taking on-site measurements.
    • Assists in developing systems designed to maintain scope and reduce time and costs of delivery of County facility or capital projects.
    • Assists in preparing project status reports, Board letters/delegation memos, project schedules, and total project cost estimates.
    • Gathers and prepares data related to scheduling of project segments for simulation purposes for cost control and resource loading.
    • Compiles and reviews capital project management staff reports related to project completions, revisions or changes and compares information with project schedules.
    • Assists in the procurement and management of professional consultant services.
    • Assembles status data of current capital project budgets, records capital project budget adjustments, and capital project cash flow data.

    Requirements

    Requirements to Qualify:
    Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree* in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.

    LICENSE:
    A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

    PHYSICAL CLASS:
    Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

    If you are a veteran, you may be eligible for veteran’s credit, which is an additional 10% of the total points added to a passing score.     EXAMINATION CONTENT :

    This examination will consist of multiple choice and simulation assessments, weighted 100%, assessing:

    MULTIPLE CHOICE AND/OR SIMULATION ASSESSMENT(S) ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.

    Applicants must meet the minimum requirements and achieve 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the register.
    TRANSFER OF TEST COMPONENTS:
    If you recently took identical components for other exams, the test responses may be automatically transferred to this examination. This exam contains test components that might be used on future exams, and your responses could be transferred to that exam.

    TEST PREPARATION:
    We provide study guides and other test preparation resources to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides may help in preparing for the test, we recommend reviewing all related materials that seem necessary.

    ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
    Applicants who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. We will use this list to fill vacancies in the Department of Public Works as they occur.

    NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.
