This recruitment is for a Custodial Worker 1 position, within the State Public Works Division, Buildings & Grounds Section, located in Carson City. This position will repair and service custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners; remove snow from walkways, driveways or parking lots; and report security deficiencies. Incumbent may be designated as lead person for the purpose of work assignments; and keep an inventory of equipment and supplies needed. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker Trainee in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Additional Position Criteria Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for stand-by emergency status, and participate in an on-call rotation schedule. Incumbent will work closely with inmates. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
