    The Position

    Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.

    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

    This Management Analyst 4 position, based in Carson City within the Department of Administration's Division of Risk Management, serves as the Operations Manager overseeing either the Workers' Compensation or Insurance and Loss Prevention section. The role includes supervising staff and conducting research and analysis in areas such as budgeting, operations, and legislative matters. Key responsibilities include managing division operations; analyzing statistical, underwriting, and actuarial data for insurance procurement, audits, RFPs, and budgeting; and preparing written materials for the Workers' Compensation Program.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and four years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and four years of professional experience which included budgeting, accounting, and/or economic or management analysis and projections; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and six years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint-based background check as a condition of appointment and as condition of continuing employment. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Additional Position Criteria Experience administering a large deductible, self-insured workers' compensation program or a general insurance program that included workers' compensation is required. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
