POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATIONThis is a professional level position in the Information Technology Department that is responsible for engineering and maintenance of the City’s centralized computer systems, both physical and virtualized environment, mobile device management and administration, disaster recovery planning and testing, messaging environment administration/upgrades, and system security. This position also participates in project planning and management.
This position will require a 100% in-office, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm schedule. Occasional evening and weekend hours and participation in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies, are required. Work is performed independently and under the management of the IT Systems Supervisor
. The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate. The City of Westminster has a Multilingual Stipend Program to encourage, and reward benefited employees who are conversationally fluent in languages other than English. Benefited employees have the opportunity to test their language proficiency skills and qualify for a bi-weekly stipend that will vary based on the employee’s level of proficiency and usage.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks Server Administration, Service Center Operations, and Cloud Administration
- Apply expertise with core IT infrastructure (Windows Active Directory, VMware, Cisco) and enterprise security systems (Fortinet firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, Proofpoint, and Artic Wolf)
- Skilled in data center management, including installation and configuration of rack-mounted infrastructure
- Design and implement Azure cloud computing and storage architecture
- Engineer, implement, and maintain VMware vSphere virtualization solutions, including server consolidation, high availability, and disaster recovery
- Configure and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and related VMware components
- Monitor virtual infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource utilization

- Ten (10) years of experience in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and support of networks and both Linux and Microsoft server environments, including administration of virtualized infrastructures
- Six (6) years of experience managing a Microsoft 365 environment
- Eight (8) years of experience managing cloud infrastructure environments (Azure preferred, AWS or Google Cloud acceptable)
- Experience and formal training in network and systems security
- Experience coordinating and delivering technology projects
- Ability to successfully pass the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background check

Physical Requirements Work is sedentary in nature and requires sufficient physical stamina and strength for:

WORKING CONDITIONSWork is constantly performed indoors. This is primarily sedentary office work. The City of Westminster does not participate in the Social Security system. In lieu of Social Security contributions, the city contributes to a 401(a) defined contribution plan on your behalf.
