    Job Location: This position will be located at 930 Wildwood Dr, Jefferson City, MO 65109.

    As a Senior Research/Data Analyst in the Office of Epidemiology, you will have the opportunity to put advanced analytical skills to work improving how public health data is collected, connected, and shared. This position will work closely with our Bureau of Data Modernization and Interoperability to modernize systems that make health data more accessible, timely and reliable.In this position you will also have the opportunity to apply technical concepts and methodologies to support chronic disease programs including but not limited to Missouri's Breast & Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (Show Me Healthy Women), Comprehensive Tobacco Control Program, Missouri Cancer Registry, and WISEWOMAN Program.

    The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

    • Provide analytical expertise to meet grant reporting and evaluation needs for chronic disease programs including, but not limited to, Show Me Healthy Women, Comprehensive Tobacco Control, WISEWOMAN, and the Missouri Cancer Registry.
    • Develop methods and tools for data collection and analysis in addition to creating and/or updating data dissemination products such as grant-related reports, maps, presentations, factsheets, or dashboards.
    • Collaborate with the data modernization and interoperability team to improve data access, quality, and interoperability
    • Apply statistical and data management methods to assess completeness, accuracy, and usability
    • Collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders working to reduce the burden of chronic disease in Missouri
    • Recommend improvements to processes and help advance best practices in data governance and modernization
    • Work independently, as an experienced team member, or as a mentor to facilitate complex analyses/research that furthers program goals and supports the mission of public health organizations in Missouri


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, informatics, data science, or a closely related field; a bachelor's degree with equivalent experience will also be considered
    • At least 3 years of experience working with public health or healthcare data, ideally including surveillance, EHR/ECR, or interoperability projects.
    • Proficiency in at least one statistical programming language (preferably SAS or Python), with the ability to learn others as needed.
    • Strong SQL skills for querying and managing large datasets.
    • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (preferably Tableau and Power BI)
    • Familiarity with public health data standards and exchange formats (HL7, FHIR, ELR, CCD, etc.).
    • Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for diverse audiences
