    McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is home to the valley's premier destination for all things trains. Our unique site features multiple rides including two miniature railroads and one antique carousel, a historical railroad museum, model railroad building, two outdoor play areas, outdoor splash pad, and NEW indoor play structure in the Roundhouse.

    This full-time Recreation Leader II role is responsible for a wide range of duties but primarily focused on the planning and coordination of special events. The park currently hosts five annual large-scale community events, including our signature Holiday Lights event which runs nightly for five weeks in December/January. This position will be instrumental in the planning, setup, scheduling, execution and tear down of all events. Work schedules will vary throughout the year depending on the needs of the park and will require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in:
    • setting up and tearing down tables, tents, signage, and equipment
    • administrating contracts
    • booking vendors and entertainment, including bands
    • supporting food service vendors
    • monitoring safety, reporting issues, and following emergency protocols
    • keeping event areas clean, including restrooms
    • providing general assistance as needed throughout an event

    Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $25.29/hour.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • No education required for this position.
    • A minimum of six months experience in a customer service position.

    Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements
    • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
      • Graduated licenses are considered restricted and therefore not acceptable for driving positions with the City of Scottsdale.
    • Successfully complete driving training, first aid, and safety classes.
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/section assignment.
