    The Position

    Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

    The Custodial Worker 2 (CW2) position at the Nevada National Guard's Reno location is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall condition of assigned facilities and surrounding grounds to ensure smooth daily operations. Under the supervision of a Custodial Supervisor, this position follows established procedures and safety guidelines while performing a wide range of custodial duties. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, locker rooms, and other facilities; vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting and wiping down surfaces; emptying trash and recycling bins; and restocking restroom and cleaning supplies. The CW2 also reports any maintenance or safety concerns, performs routine cleaning tasks on a regular schedule, and aids with event or special project setups as needed. This role is essential in supporting a clean, orderly, and safe environment for all building users.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Additional Position Criteria This position requires a valid Real ID at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
